Hi, have you ever experienced "brain blocked" where you can't think of what to buy at the market and what to cook? Well i am sure most of us have! It's normal, imagine we cook 3 to 5 days or more per week, 20 to 23 days per month, up to 276 days per year!!! In another word, we got to think of different dishes in order not to feel bored for eating the same dishes too soon! As for me, whenever i have my "brain blocked" moment, i told myself to stop cracking my head, so instead of stressing myself i open my fridge to check any left over ingredients i may have, or any dried ingredients which are about to expire, or ....... just go to the nearer market see if any nice and fresh ingredient that catches my eyes, then from there i let my brain takes over!!
Cooking is about improvisation, dare to try something new and the acceptance. I mean, different people has different taste. There is no such thing as right or wrong but rather a better way or method to prepare, and the acceptance of the taste. Take for example, once i was not feeling well, so i checked my fridge and found salmon fillet and minced pork, and because i wasn't feeling well i didn't have much craving and appetite, so i told my husband i gonna cook salmon porridge with minced pork, but husband's first reaction was, "uh?? why so funny? never heard of salmon mixed with minced pork!" So i did cook both ingredients in my porridge, and served my husband. I asked him, "how's my porridge?" He replied "hmm.....ok, no bad..... but i am still not get used to the idea of the combination of salmon fish and minced pork.... sounds funny...." Oh come on! who cares if it sounds funny, as long as it tastes good that's what it matters! Don't you agree?
